Le Mans 2006
#1
Hallo,

Daniel

All,

It is that time of year again where we start to think about the November Le Mans event; I must first apologise for not yet issuing the Magazine for the 2005 event. I don't normally start to put it together until around May but it has been mad at work this year. I had hoped last year's 13 weeks (six visits) spent in China would be a record never to be beaten but I have already been three times this year, returning from my last trip last Saturday (17Jun06) and would you know it I am back off again tomorrow 26Jun06 for another five days! However I am pleased to say I have finally started the Magazine and aim to try and do an hour a day until it is finished. What I do not want to do is make it less quality, so I hope when you do receive it you will be pleased with it, I am aiming for full colour this time!!

As usual the teams who competed in the previous event get first refusal for the following years event. For 2006 there will be the maximum three teams from DHORC, with the following teams also eligible, with their captains name next to them.

Team USA - Brad Bowman (Note Deane Walpole entered the 2006 event at the end of the 2005 event, keen or what!) Woodgreen - John Ovens Wrun Wragged - Dean Wragg Continental - Frank Figuls TBA

Would the captain of each team (or a representative) please confirm to me that they will have a team for the 2006 Le Mans event by 31 July 2006. I will also call each team captain by mid July, if I haven't already heard from them, to make sure they have received this e-mail (I know I am bad at checking my personal e-mail that is why I use this e-mail address for running this event) so their is no excuse come 31 July 2006 that all have not seen this e-mail.

We only have seven teams for the 2006 event, as the Chinese team will not be competing, therefore Henk Niemeyer from the Netherlands has the first refusal for the eighth lane. I have contacted him separately as well as copying him on this e-mail.

Then we have a possible German team where Daniel Guttstein contacted me. While he probably can't compete another German H:O racer Claus Heupel is interested in competing with a German team. Again I have contacted him separately as well as copying him on this e-mail.

Finally I have also been contacted by Mark Rye from Cardiff in Wales who would like to enter an Anglo Welsh team. They will get second refusal should a lane come available. I have also contacted him separately as well as copying him on this e-mail.

For those team Captains who do contact me by 31July2006 I would then appreciate it if you could let me have your fully paid up Entry Forms by 31 August 2006 for all team members, otherwise again the event will be opened up to the new teams. We need to be strict on this to be fair to all, there is an awful lot of work that goes into this event so we need all to help with its smooth running. Over the years we have been more lenient but with my work commitments now I need to ensure the event does not take up too much of my time chasing people so if dates are not met, new teams will be encouraged to enter. This year's Entry Form is attached:-

The 2006 event is for Charity again. Here in Derby we will be collecting for the Derby Kids' Camp who provide holidays to those children who otherwise may not be fortunate enough to have a holiday. As it is for Charity it is imperative that each driver collects £25 (or equivalent in your own currency) for the Charity of your own choice. It doesn't matter if one driver is unable to collect any sponsorship so long as another driver compensates for same. At the end of the day a team of say 5 racers should between them collect the equivalent of £125. I know for example that I am in the lucky position where I work that I will collect more than enough for the whole of my team. This is for Charity, please make the effort. Have attached the sponsorship forms, would the team Captains also let me know which Charity they will be collecting for by 31 August 2006. For a team to start the race in November we will either need the money or proof that a team has been sponsored the relevant amount. We were very lenient in 2004, which resulted in a very poor result. I only collected the £800 that was given to our local Charity although others did collect some for other Charities. I was not advised about how much they collected. This year we will be very strict on this, we rely on Nigel Cook from the Derby Kids' Camp charity to provide the tables and beds free of charge for the event, we should show our appreciation by collecting for our chosen charities!

I am also pleased to advise that a good friend of Brad Bowman, Michael Block who has developed a specialist timing system for slot car races will be bringing his software all the way from the States to test it at this year's event.

Please also advise if I am missing anyone on the circulation of this e-mail

While I will be in China this week I will be receiving e-mails and my English mobile works over there, although I do switch it off at midnight as China is 7 hours ahead of the UK.

I look forward to hearing from you - Le Mans 2006 is go!!!!

Cheers

Nick Sismey
